On the evening of October 4th 2022, a star-studded audience filled Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House to honor Loretta Lynn, who had died at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Faith Hill, whose friendship with Loretta had lasted decades, was at the helm of the homage. In the company of her husband, Tim McGraw, Faith tried to control her feelings as she paid tribute to her dear friend.
Loretta Lynn’s life and music were honored and remembered at CMT’s Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of Loretta Lynn’s Life & Music.
Faith was filled with emotion as she pondered her strong relationship with Loretta and her husband’s comfort provided comfort.
She proudly declared that being present in the memory of their cherished buddy was an honor.
Loretta’s music encapsulated her honest expressions about the hardships and joys of being a wife, mother, lover, and more, bringing insight into the truth of these situations.
Loretta, Faith recalled, descanted about everything from romances to deliveries—no subject was off-limits.
Faith had a lot of respect for the famous Loretta Lynn.
Lynn had created a new world of possibilities for women in country music, allowing them to make distinct sounds and pursue their goals.
Lynn, she saw, was always polite, helpful, and supportive to everyone she met. Faith valued the pleasant memories she shared with her idol beyond anything else.
While overcome with emotion, Faith passionately stated her pride in being a woman in country music and a mother capable of carrying on Loretta Lynn’s musical heritage.
Knowing she stood on the shoulders of such brilliance gave her the courage to pursue her dreams.
